TECHNICAL INSIGHT: MODERN TEXTILE MANUFACTURING FACILITIES

  • 20/07/2026

SEICO has participated in the development of multiple facilities within Thai Tuan Group’s integrated textile, dyeing, and garment manufacturing system. With more than 30 years of growth and industry leadership, Thai Tuan is recognized as one of Vietnam’s leading textile brands. Through these projects, SEICO has gained a deep understanding of the key requirements for textile manufacturing facilities:

1. Fewer Columns, Greater Production Efficiency

Production areas require uninterrupted floor space to accommodate spinning, weaving, dyeing, finishing lines, and internal logistics systems. Large-span steel structures offer several advantages:

  • Minimize the number of columns within production areas.
  • Increase flexibility for production line layout and future expansion.
  • Optimize the flow of raw materials and finished products.
  • Reduce conflicts with MEP and fire protection systems.

However, as span lengths increase, requirements for deflection control, overall structural stability, and load-bearing performance become significantly more demanding.

2. The Real Engineering Challenge Lies in Structural Stiffness

For large-span industrial buildings, structural design extends beyond strength considerations alone. Engineers must carefully control:

  • Deflection of steel beams and rafters.
  • Lateral displacement of the entire structural frame.
  • Stability of roof and wall bracing systems.
  • Wind load effects on large roof surfaces.
  • Interaction between the primary structure and building envelope systems.

An optimal design is not the one that uses the most steel, but the one that achieves the best balance between strength, stiffness, and cost efficiency.

3. Large Open Spaces Demand Higher Construction Precision

In large-scale textile projects, construction schedule is often a critical success factor. Precision fabrication at the manufacturing stage helps:

  • Reduce erection tolerances on site.
  • Minimize field modifications and adjustments.
  • Accelerate the completion of roofing, cladding, and MEP works.
  • Ensure readiness for production line installation.

This is why industrial projects increasingly favor contractors capable of providing integrated design, fabrication, and erection services rather than managing these phases separately.

Large-span steel structures are increasingly preferred, as they minimize the number of interior columns, optimize production line layouts

4. The Value of a Facility Is Not Measured by Tons of Steel

For modern industrial developments, project success should not be measured by the quantity of steel used, but by the value the structure creates for manufacturing operations:

  • Optimized operational space.
  • Flexibility for future expansion.
  • Lower operating costs.
  • Faster commissioning and production start-up.
  • Long-term durability and service life.

With more than 23 years of experience, SEICO delivers integrated solutions covering structural design, steel fabrication and erection, roofing and cladding systems, SP Deck flooring systems, and industrial coatings. Our comprehensive approach helps project owners meet technical requirements, maintain construction schedules, and maximize investment value throughout the entire lifecycle of the facility.
